You've Got Rosy Fingers
Daniel A Weitz

The title You’ve Got Rosy Fingers references the epithet “Rosy-Fingered Dawn” from Homer’s Odyssey, which refers to a portent of new beginnings on an ongoing journey, a warm daybreak.

For this piece, I would like to extend my thanks to the New York Youth Symphony Composition Program and to Kyle Blaha, whose work in music education and whose warm disposition are equally unparalleled. It is the rare people like him who inspire me not only to create music, but to teach it, to work with young people, and to live in the world of new music on the behalf of magnanimity.

Premiered by the New York Youth Symphony Jazz Ensemble at National Sawdust, New York, NY, United States for the New York Youth Symphony Composition Program.
